*Veterans are allowed to take two 8 week courses. Tuition paid by Heartland Foundation.
*Veterans, Veteran Spouses, and HCC Student Military-Connected Dependents are eligible to attend this course.
*Caregivers attending to aid Veterans with accessibility are additionally permitted to register for this free course with the Veteran.
Course Description: This course, imagined in consultation with CreatiVets, is envisioned as a place where veterans of the US military can explore their experiences through art making.
Students will learn the fundamentals of working hands-on in selected media that may include collage, sculpture, ceramics, photography, painting, drawing. The course covers concepts of art creation, historical and contemporary visual culture, and an exploration of the creative process. Using these resources, students will examine and express their experiences of military service, with an emphasis on process, exploration, and peer/instructor discussion. Content varies each semester. With permission of the program, ART 120 can be repeated for a total of two credit hours towards graduation.
