Course Testing

Student Instructions

Course Exams must be scheduled and completed by the instructor's deadline. Any exceptions require direct instructor approval, communicated to the Testing Center via phone or email.

The student is responsible for scheduling their Course Testing appointments and ensuring they meet the test deadline.

Be sure to consider your exam's time limit when booking your appointment, as all test materials and electronic tests are submitted promptly at closing time. For example, if your exam has a 2-hour time limit and you schedule a 5:45pm appointment on a day the Testing Center closes at 7pm, you will only have an hour and 15 minutes for your exam. Course tests cannot be resumed on another day or taken in split sessions.

To ensure all testers have adequate time to begin their exams before closing, the Testing Center will not accept check-ins after 5:45PM Mondays - Thursdays or after 12:45PM on Fridays. Please note that our final testing appiontments slot is 5:30PM-5:45PM (Monday - Thursday) and 12:30PM-12:45PM (Fridays).

Faculty Instructions

Faculty must submit an Electronic Request for Testing [ERFT] for all exams that are to be administered in the Testing Center. Revisions to a submitted ERFT may be sent to the Testing Center via email [testing@heartland.edu]. For more detailed information, please review the resources linked below.

Testing Accommodations

Alternative testing services are available for students with approved accommodations. Students seeking testing accommodations due to documented disability must work with the Student Access & Accommodations (SAAS) office prior to testing. All accommodations must be approved through SAAS and formally renewed each semester before they can be applied to exams.

To leverage your authorized accommodations for any exam, notify your instructor as to what accommodations you intend to access.

For more information on what documentation is required, contact Student Access and Accommodation Services at 309.268.8259.

Remote TestingĀ & Honorlock

Can't make it to campus to test for your Online *with the requirement of in-person testing or Hybrid course? Your Heartland Community College instructor may offer testing through the online proctoring service, Honorlock. Reach out to your instructor to see if they can make arrangements for you to test remotely through Honorlock.

Alternately, you can find a testing center in your area to arrange a remote test, and have the exam returned to your instructor. Please note that various proctoring fees and scheduling requirements may apply at alternative testing sites. These arrangements must be made between the student, faculty member, and alternate testing location.
