- Review your high school's course list for placement requirements
- Visit the Testing Center for information on placement testing and testing waiver options.
- Talk with your high school counselor to make sure you meet placement by enrollment and registration deadlines.

Know and Understand Drop and Withdrawal Dates
You can Drop or Withdraw from an HCC course according to the deadline set for each semester on the Academic Calendar. It is important to know the difference between the two options:
- When you drop a class by the drop (Refund) deadline, it is completely removed from your HCC transcript
- When you withdraw from a course after the drop deadline but before the withdrawal deadline, a "W" grade will appear on your HCC transript. A withdrawal counts as an unsuccesful attempt but does not impact your college GPA
