Heartland Community College

Student Government Association

The purpose of the Heartland Community College Student Government Association is to sustain, promote and represent the interests of the student body and establish a sound means of cooperation with the board of Trustees, administration, faculty, and staff of Heartland community College, and to establish parity with these bodies in decisions affecting the student body. (HCC SGA Constitution, Preamble, 2008)

The SGA sponsors a Textbook Swap prior to the start of each semester. The Student Government Association founded the Textbook Swap in Spring 2013. Since then, the swap has saved Heartland students over $185,000.

Student Senate Meetings

Student Government Association’s meeting with the student body and its student leaders. This platform is an opportunity for students to join the elected officers and speak their concerns, partake in future events and committees and discuss important topics surrounding Heartland and its students. Open meetings are geared towards professional development, community and on campus leaders and speakers, as well as an open forum for all students and staff members to discuss campus wide topics. Those in attendance at senate meetings representing their registered student club or organization will receive $25 dollars credit for their represented club or organization.
