Non-Degree and Visiting Students
Once you've applied and received your acceptance letter, these are your next steps to prepare to enroll!
- Within 3-5 business days from your application submission date, your welcome letter will go to the email address you entered on your application. Application processing could take longer during high-volume times near the start of a semester OR if an error is detected with the information entered on your application.
- If you can't locate your welcome letter, please check your Spam and Promotions folders. If you still can't locate it, email Applications@heartland.edu for help!
- Visit home.heartland.edu to log into your myHeartland account, using the Login and Student ID from your Welcome Letter. From there, you can:
- Click on Manage My Password to create a password and set up security questions
- Access your myHeartland email
- Click on Student Center to:
- Make Appointments through the Navigate tile
- Register for classes and make enrollment changes on the Manage Classes tile
- View your schedule/bill and financial information

Locate the class(es) you'd like to take on the class schedule.
- Ensure you meet the prerequisites.
- If you have met prerequisites with previous college coursework, submit an unofficial transcript or progress summary to records@heartland.edu.
- If prior coursework does not meet prerequisites, complete placement testing or submit applicable documentation to waive placement.
- If you plan to enroll in an online class, check the class description:
- For some online classes, you may need access to a webcam and a laptop to complete exams.
- For other online classes, there may be a requirement for exams to be completed in an in-person proctored testing environment.
- Ensure you meet the prerequisites.
Once you have submitted an unofficial transcript or progress summary to meet prerequisites, you must connect with an academic advisor before you can enroll. Contact an academic advisor by:
- Emailing advising@heartland.edu
- In the email, please include your name, birthdate or HCC ID number, and the courses in which you want to enroll.
- Attending in-person drop-in hours
- Monday – Thursday, Noon - 4:00 pm
- First floor of the Community Commons Building (campus map)
Your advisor will provide enrollment instructions.

Once your Heartland course(s) is complete, you can request that your official Heartland transcript be sent to your home institution so they can add the course(s) to your record.
Financial Steps
Proof of in-district residency is required for you to receive the in-district tuition rate unless you graduated from a high school located in Heartland's district within the past year.

- When it comes to paying for college, you have lots of options. You can access your student bill online by visiting home.heartland.edu, clicking on Student Center, then choosing View My Schedule/Bill.
