Humanities

Why Humanities?

The term humanities refers to a group of disciplines that study aspects of human experience and culture. When you take a humanities class you will encounter ideas from a number of academic areas. Humanities classes at Heartland focus on the fine arts. In humanities classes you will learn to appreciate, analyze, and better understand the art, ideas, and institutions that make up our world.

Exploring the humanities is interesting and fun. You learn more about yourself, your culture and your world. The knowledge gained from studying humanities helps provide a foundation of knowledge in your life and your career, regardless of which field you choose.
