Heartland Hawks golfers head to NJCAA DII National Tournament

May 16, 2022

The Heartland Community College golf team is headed to the NJCAA DII National Tournament competition.

The Hawks golf team came out on top in the Region 24 Tournament on May 3, besting 2021 DII National Champions Parkland College by 14 strokes.

In Region 24 tournament play, the Hawks were paced by sophomore Brevin Knight. Knight sat alone atop the leader board after the first day of play. He would stay there through all 54 holes and was joined by freshman standout, Mason Minkel.

Knight and Minkel tied for first in the tournament with both finishing three over par. Logan Winn finished #4, Lewis Slade, #9, and Trevor Laub #20.

This is only the second year of the Hawks Men’s Golf program, coached in both years by Josh Edison.

The Hawks will compete in the 72-hole National Tournament in Joplin, MO at Twin Hills Country Club, May 17 through May 20.
