Athletics Scholarship Golf Outing supports students

Golfers can hit the links to support Heartland Community College student-athletes and programs this July. 

Heartland Community College Foundation is looking for players and sponsors for the Heartland Athletics Scholarship Scramble Golf Outing on Friday, July 31 at the El Paso Golf Club (2860 County Rd 600 N, El Paso, IL 61738). 

The golf outing raises funding for Heartland Community College Athletics programs and scholarships. The outing will be in a four-person scramble format. Registration includes golf cart and greens fees, prizes and raffle entry, competition awards eligibility, and a catered lunch. 

Heartland Community College has programs in Baseball, Softball, Women’s Volleyball, Men’s Golf, Men’s and Women’s Cross Country, Men’s and Women’s Soccer, and a co-ed eSports team. 

In the field of play, Hawks Athletics programs have had recent success including two individual National Championship titles in eSports, a trip to the NJCAA Division II National Tournament and top four finish for Baseball, and Hawks golfers finished ninth in the nation. 

In the classroom student-athletes have also excelled. Seven of the eight Heartland Athletics teams were named Academic teams, posting a group GPA of over 3.0, and 51 student athletes were named NJCAA Academic All-Americans. 

“We have seen great support for our programs and student-athletes here at Heartland,” said Athletics Director Ryan Knox. “We are so grateful that the Heartland Community College Foundation has extended their help to our programs to create this event and reach out to the public in a way that invites current and new supporters to join us in a fun event.” 

Check-in for the golf outing begins at 10:00 a.m. on July 31 with an 11:00 a.m. shotgun start. Team registration is $500 or $125 per player.
