Flessner leaving Heartland Board of Trustees

November 18, 2024

One of Heartland Community College’s longest-serving Trustees has announced he will be leaving the Board.

Board of Trustees member Jeffrey Flessner has announced he will resign from the District 540 Board effective Dec 1, 2024.

Flessner, whose six-year term expires in April of 2025, is stepping down as he seeks to spend more time outside with his family. Flessner was elected to the Board in 2013.

“Over the last few decades, Jeff Flessner’s knowledge, expertise, and leadership has helped shape Heartland Community College into what it is today,” said Becky Ropp, District 540 Board Chair. “Jeff’s professional background has helped us navigate the ever-changing business and insurance world. His leadership has helped us as a board of trustees to spearhead the vision and changes to position us for a bright future. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I want to thank Jeff for all his hard work and dedication to higher education in District 540.”

The Board has 60 days from Dec 1, 2024, to make an appointment to fill the seat for the remainder of the term.

Flessner’s vacant seat is one of three six-year term positions open for election on April 1, 2025. The appointee filling Flessner’s vacant seat will serve until a new Trustee is elected and sworn in.

Individuals interested in applying to fill the vacancy on the District 540 Board of Trustees may do so at the Heartland Community College executive office, which is located in the Community Commons Building, Suite 2000 at 1500 W. Raab Road, Normal. Applications must be submitted by 4:30 p.m. on December 9, 2024.

To be eligible, candidates must be at least 18 years old, a citizen of the United States, and reside within the State of Illinois and District 540 for at least one year as of the election.
