Bachelor honored by IL Community College Faculty Association

A Heartland Community College faculty member has been recognized for teaching excellence. 

The Illinois Community College Faculty Association (ICCFA) has chosen Heartland Community College Professor Dr. Jeremy Bachelor as recipient of the 2024 Faculty of the Year Award. 

Bachelor, who teaches Spanish at Heartland, will be awarded the honor at the annual ICCFA Annual Conference for Teaching Excellence at the I-Hotel Conference Center in Champaign, Illinois on November 8. 

In the nominating materials for the Award, Bachelor was commended for "innovative teaching methods to engage students, fostering a deep appreciation for the Spanish language and culture.” 

Bachelor, who holds an PhD in Applied Linguistics/Language Education from UNINI Mexico, and an M.A. in Languages, Literatures & Cultures from Illinois State University, has taught at Heartland since 2014. 

The Illinois Community College Faculty Association serves in an advisory capacity to the Illinois Community College Board as the collective voice of the faculty from 48 Illinois community colleges.
