Luke Babson named Head Soccer Coach
December 5, 2024Heartland Community College Athletics has named Luke Babson as Head Coach of the Men’s and Women’s Soccer programs.
Babson was previously hired in the fall of 2024 as Recruiting Coordinator at Heartland and has been working since that time to develop relationships with regional school districts and their soccer programs.
He previously served as the Head Coach and technical Director for PDX FC, Portland, in the professional United Soccer League, where he led the team to a NISA Independent Cup Championship.
Babson’s experience also includes serving as Head Men's Soccer Coach at Southwestern Oregon College, Coos Bay, where he led the team to one of the biggest turnarounds in all of college soccer, improving a squad with a 1-11 record to a 10-4-2 season in 2022.
Coach Babson takes over squads that saw great success in recent seasons. This year, the Women’s Soccer team finished with a 15-1-1 regular season record and fell just short of advancing to the National Championship Final. The Men’s team qualified for the National Championship Tournament and went 1-1 in the group stage, not advancing to the semi-finals. Both teams claimed Region-24 and District championships.
