Heartland hosts "Voices of Refugees" event

Heartland Community College will host a notable scholar for a free event to explore the stories and impact of refugees.  

Heartland Community College presents “Voices of Refugees” at the Community Commons Building (CCB) room 1406-1407 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, April 22. 

The event features speaker Dr. Wendy Pearlman a historian, author and professor of political science at Northwestern University. Dr. Pearlman has interviewed hundreds of Syrian refugees and shares their stories in two books. We Crossed a Bridge and it Trembled: Voices from Syria and The Home I Worked to Make: Voices from the New Syrian Diaspora. 

“Voices of Refugees” is funded through Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (LASS) Innovation Grant funds established by Heartland.
