If you are looking for a strong foundation without advanced mathematics, HCC provides a two-semester, algebra-based physics sequence. These courses explore core physics topics in greater depth than a technical physics course and are well suited for students pursuing health-related careers, technical fields, or those fulfilling a general education requirement.
For students planning to continue their studies at a four-year college or university, HCC offers a three-semester, calculus-based physics sequence. The third course introduces advanced topics such as special relativity and quantum mechanics. This sequence is ideal for students majoring in physics, engineering, chemistry, or other science and technology related fields.
Heartland also offers descriptive astronomy; a course designed for students who want to explore the universe without advanced math. This is an introductory astronomy course for students who want a basic physical science understanding of the universe. Topics include Earth as a planet, the Sun and solar system, stars and their evolution, galaxies, and cosmology. Laboratory activities support the lectures and may include evening sky observations.
