Course Wait List Instructions

The College maintains course wait lists for certain courses. They are identified on the online course schedule as well as the Student Center when enrolling in courses. To be added to a course wait list, you must be:

In good academic standing
Meet all course prerequisites
Have no holds on your account
Have availability in your schedule for the course

If you have questions regarding your eligibility for a course wait list, contact the Advising Office.

1. Navigate to the myHeartland page

2. Click the Student Center link

3. Click the Manage Classes tile

4. Click the Class Search and Enroll tab

5. Select the appropriate term

6. Enter the desired wait list course into the Search for Classes field, then click Enter

7. Click the Open Classes Only tab to view wait listed courses

8. The Seats column will indicate if the section has a wait list and how many spots are available

Select the section of the course you wish to be added to the wait list

9. Click Next

10. Change the response from No to Yes, then click Accept

11. With the question set to Enroll, click Next

12. If the information is correct, click Submit

Then select Yes to the question "Are you sure you want to submit?"

13. If you meet the requirements to be eligible for the course wait list, you will be added with an indication of your position on the list

As students are enrolled in courses from the wait list, your wait list number will change. For example, you are currently number 3 on the course wait list. When a spot becomes available, the first person on the list will be enrolled in the course. At that time, your number on the list will change to 2.

Also, you will receive an email to your HCC account if/when you have been added to the course so please check your email often.

Be aware, you will NOT be enrolled in the course from the wait list if you are enrolled in another section of the same course.
