Heartland Community College

Why Early Childhood Education?

If you like working with young children, early childhood education is one of the most impactful careers you can choose. You will have the opportunity to provide children a positive start in their education and teach them skills they will use the rest of their lives.

At Heartland, we offer degrees and certificates aligned with Gateway to Opportunity credentials that will give you the expertise you need to work directly with children in settings including early childhood public schools, private preschools, child care centers, family child care homes and Head Start environments.

You can apply your knowledge through hands-on experience in our Child Development Lab, an NAEYC-accredited laboratory school located right on campus. If you are interested in pursuing a four-year degree, our program sets you up for success with our strong articulation agreements that support easy transfer.
