ECE Careers and Employment
Interested in working in the Early Childhood Education field?
Check out the Early Childhood Education Department Job Board for part-time and full-time positions in area child care centers and preschools.
Even a part-time job in the early child field could qualify you for the state’s ECACE Scholarship, which covers all cost of attendance. More information on the scholarship can be found at lSAC.
As an ECE student, you will learn the skills necessary to make a positive difference in the lives of young children, their families and society as a whole. Your classes will prepare you to assess children’s unique needs and then design and implement developmentally appropriate practices to help them thrive. You will enjoy hands-on experience through observation and interaction at our Child Development Lab located right on campus.
Those entering the ECE field work with young children as teacher’s aides, assistant teachers, teachers, child care workers and child care center directors in public schools, private preschools, child care centers, in-home child care programs and Head Start facilities.
Employment of preschool teachers is expected to grow by 18% from 2020 to 2030, much faster than the average for all occupations. *
