Prior Learning Assessments (PLAs)
Heartland provides opportunities for those working in early childhood education at least one year to earn college credit for prior learning and experience in the field. PLAs can be taken for several ECE classes and if passed, students test out of the course and receive college credit.
Heartland currently is offering an opportunity to participate in the free Mursion PLA Pilot, which uses 21st century technologies to develop life-like scenarios in which students are evaluated on their interaction with avatars in a virtual classroom environment. The test could result in up to 12 hours of college credit, which counts toward the Gateways to Opportunity Level 2 Credential.
If you have worked in the early childhood field for one year, you may be eligible to try Mursion. You will find more information and how to enroll here.
