HCC Lincoln offers a variety of classes for enrichment and professional development.

  • Does hosting evoke feelings of friends and fun or anxiety and annoyance?  Don't waste time worrying; make entertaining enjoyable and stress-free by learning a handful of simple recipes and planning techniques.  Explore suprisingly easy and low cost ways to host an elegant, sophisticated party for your family and friends, then leave class and put your new skills and recipes to the test!  Enjoy wine samples and bottles for purchase from Scout & Cellar while cooking and eating.

  • Learn the three parts of a will and who needs one.  Discover what "probate" means and can it be avoided?  What is the real power of a trust and are there tax benefits?  Learn the meaning of "tax-free inheritance", "lifetime giving exclusions" and how to incorporate them into your estate plan.  Discuss strategies that will assist you in minimizing your death/estate taxes, while maximizing your assests.

  • Many things cause stress that impact your work - from juggling priorities and handling differences with co-workers, to managing personal challenges.  This course will help you identify your key stressors and ways to properly respond to them.  Through self-assessments, creating schedules and testing time management strategies, you'll develop a personalized action plan to deal with stress.

  • This hands-on workshop will teach you how to make flaky pie crust and tasty fruit pie filling.  Bill will share recipes for his pies that have won the "Grand Champion Pastry" award at the Illinois State Fair. Sample three different pie crusts (shortening, oil and lard-based) and master the crust of your choice.  Each student will work on his/her own pie and take it home for baking.
