Why Mechatronics?

The Mechatronics I: Controls Certificate prepares you for a variety of entry-level technician and/or operator positions in various industrial settings such as manufacturing. You will learn skills in industrial electricity, fluid power, mechatronics, and automation controls. This certificate is a stackable, employment-focused credential that strengthens students’ readiness for immediate workforce entry while also providing a pathway into advanced coursework in PLCs, automation, and systems. Students must complete the Mechatronics I: Controls certificate prior to enrolling in the advanced coursework included in the Mechatronics II: Systems certificate.

Should you decide to pursue further education in this area, you can apply all of this coursework toward the Industrial Technology certificate or the Industrial Technology AAS degree.

As a student in the Mechatronics I: Controls Certificate, you will:

  • Understand and practice general safety procedures
  • Troubleshoot and repair electronic and mechanical systems
  • Repair and install advanced automation, including robotic operations
  • Apply knowledge of controllers and control systems for effective system management
