Tuition and Required Fees

Heartland Community College tuition for credit courses is based on residency in district 540 (PDF). Some courses also carry a course-specific fee. Tuition and required fee rates are as follows*:

Tuition

Tuition rates as of the Summer 2023 / Fall 2023 term:

  • In-district tuition - $166 per semester hour
  • Out-of-district tuition - $322 per semester hour
  • Out-of-state/Out-of-country tuition - $483 per semester hour

Fees

  • Program Development and Facilities Enhancement Fee (required for all students) - $2 per semester hour
    • This fee helps fund costs associated with developing and updating academic programs and enhancing facilities including buildings and equipment
  • Student Life Fee (required for all students) - $14 per semester hour
    This fee helps fund activities that enhance student life such as:
    • student groups
    • activities and organizations
    • student athletic teams
    • mass transit/bus transportation
  • Continuing Education Fees - Set on a per-course basis. Please consult their respective web sites or schedule books for more information.
  • Course Specific Fees - Some courses require special materials, supplies or services. Course specific fees are generally charged to classes with a lab or those that require other specialized facilities or equipment.

**All expenses are estimates, based on full-time enrollment (12 credit hours per semester) for both Fall and Spring semesters as an in-district student.  Out-of-district and out-of-state students will have higher tuition costs.
