Theater Information
Designed to give you performance confidence, theater courses at HCC will help you understand creative uses of language and ideas. Discover how to be literal, figurative and impressionistic using a wide range of emotional effects. You'll also learn how to speak with a sense of audience, purpose and style. Learn to use characterizations for the stage that reflect a wide range of human personality, idiosyncratic behaviors and psychological states.
Theater courses offered at HCC include Acting I, Acting II and Introduction to Theater. Opportunities to perform in the Astroth Community Education Center as well as the Heartland Theater in Normal are also available.
As a theater major, you may be considered for work in an assortment of venues, including stage, film, TV, video and radio. The vast range of materials produced in these various forms are used in entertainment, information and instruction. With this background, you'll have career options in the following areas:
