Test out of Courses with a Proficiency Exam
Proficiency exams are available for those who would like to attempt to earn credit by examination.
Timeline: A course proficiency exam should be completed at least 2 weeks before the beginning of a term as to allow time for credit processing. If you are interested in taking a Proficiency Exam and have questions, please contact your Academic Advisor to discuss your options.
Expressing Interest
To request to take a Proficiency Exam, please review the exam details and contacts in the spreadsheet below. Prior to scheduling your exam, please express interest by emailing the appropriate contact. You will be provided study material if available. When reaching out to express interest, please include the following information in your email:
- Full Name
- HCC ID Number
- Proficiency Exam you are interested in taking [see list below]
- Contact Information [HCC email address & Phone Number]
Scheduling your Exam & Cost
Start by expressing interest from the appropriate contact. When you are prepared to take your selected Proficiency Exam, please reach out to the appropriate contact as listed below. You will need to pay the non-refundable fee of $35 per credit hour to HCC Business Office prior to testing.
